Explanation on how to earn each award:

 

Feathers                 Bear Claws              Arrowheads

 

Feather Awards

(Once princesses earn ALL feathers, you receive the Beaver Patch)

 

Red Feather:

Know and Repeat before your tribe everybody’s Indian Name.

 

White Feather:

Repeat the six Aims before your tribe.

 

Yellow Feather:

Complete your section of the Tribes Totem Pole.

 

Blue Feather:

Maintain good conduct at 3 consecutive meetings of your tribe.

 

1. Speak only when spoken to

2. Good sportsmanship in games or play

3. Be courteous and polite

4. Be neat and clean

 

Purple Feather:

Hike two miles with dad, give oral report to your tribe. Provide Tally Keeper with written report.

 

Orange Feather:

Camp with Dad for One Night and prepare your own Food.

 

Black Feather:

Arrange Night off in kitchen for mom. Purchase, cook and serve dinner to mom. Clean and wash dishes. Mom will supply written report to Tally Keeper.

 

Green Feather:

Tell an Indian tale to your tribe.

Bear Claw Awards

(Once princesses earn ALL bear claws, you receive the Cougar Patch)

 

Green Claw:

Complete three handicraft projects with dad. Display before the tribe. Crafts should not be a tribal or nation craft.

 

White Claw:

Carry out on helpful project around your home each day for three weeks. Mom and dad should approve. Keep a calendar recorded to be signed by MOM and dad. Present to tribe and Tally Keeper.

 

Red Claw:

Plan an outing for your whole family. Make oral report to tribe and a written report to Tally Keeper.

 

Brown Claw:

Give Prayer at Three Meetings.

 

Yellow Claw:

Describe a hobby or pet care to your tribe. Answer Questions.

 

Black Claw:

Demonstrate how to fold the American Flag. Explain how to handle, raise, fly and lower the flag. Explain what to do when flag passes.

 

Blue Claw:

Attend another Tribes monthly meeting and make an oral report to your tribe and a written report to Tally Keeper

 

Orange Claw:

Prepare a report on a tribe of Indians. You may use pictures, artifacts, ETC.

 

Arrowhead Awards

(Once princesses earn ALL bear claws, you receive the Buffalo Patch)

 

Green Arrowhead:

Collect, mount, and identify the leaves of twelve different trees of this area.

Provide some information about each type of tree.

 

Black Arrowhead:

Study and learn at least 15 words of Indian Sign language. Tell a story to your tribe using the se symbols.

 

Yellow Arrowhead:

Be Tally Keeper for three meetings.

 

Orange Arrowhead:

Study the history of an Indian nation. Make a display and report to your tribe.

 

White Arrowhead:

Sponsor and conduct a project for the benefit of a charitable organization.

 

Red Arrowhead:

Learn 5 types of Knots. Demonstrate them to your tribe. Explain their use.

 

Blue Arrowhead:

Explain how the six aims apply to your everyday life.
